… of letting you wait. I’m so sorry for letting whoever was waiting for pictures of my little vacation, wait for so long. (Yes… I’m still under the, probably delusional impression that there are actually people who read this blog and actually come back once in a while to check …
)
Well, I got home a while ago and this four-day trip to the North Sea could hardly have been more enjoyable. It was too cool to go swimming in the ocean though… sadly … but the view of it alone was so relaxing.
we were watching this very cute dog jumping into the ocean again and again to fetch a ball that the owner had never thrown ^^ very entertaining.
We took a little boat trip in very grey weather:
and saw some seals (hard to see … in all those shades of grey…)
of course as this was the North Sea coast there were millions (literally) of sheep on the dykes. Once we even drove right through a flock with our bikes =) cute creatures they are but I couldn’t help thinking “sweater … scarf … mittens … hats”
and being the knitter that I am I just have to show you this tiny little baby’s bonnet that we saw in a museum in Jever. Those stitches were so so tiny… (this one is in its original quality and size so click it
)
and of course I also knit some myself:
and guess what? I’ve been designing … yeah shocking, right? The Fit to Flatter series has provided me with excellent tools (really… even if you’re not a knitter, go over there and read the first few parts) and so since yesterday I’ve come up with this:
it’s nothing too fancy, just a fitted sweater with a square neckline and elbow length sleeves but I’m soooo excited for it. I took all the measurements and made all the decisions yesterday so now as I type the swatch is blocking. Yes, I was a good knitter and actually swatched all the patterns I’m going to use (big deal… seed stitch, stockinette and a little flower petal thingy):
nice, huh? The yarn is a 50% Virgin Wool 50% Acrylic blend, feel nice and knits well. But most importantly, the colour, I think this is the prettiest shade of this kind (sorry but, what is that colour called? it’s not petrol, is it? I found pigeon blue, grey blue, azure …??) … well, the picture doesn’t really do the colour justice either… but I love it =) and now I can’t wait for tonight when I’ll do all the math involved. I usually don’t like calculating too much but I’m confident that I can do it.
Meanwhile the secret gift is almost finished, but Pioneer… well Pioneer has a hard time competing with all the more exciting designs and better yarn choices so it’s not getting too much attention.
Well, I leave you at this now with some evening impressions from the coast.
