Some Updates

Some Updates

Anyone curious to see how my sweater turned out? hehe

The answer is, not perfectly but not so bad either. I finished seaming quite quickly and here’s what it looks like now:

Well… the positive thing: it fits… bad news: it’s too short. Or maybe not even that much too short but the lower edge still rolls up. I should have knitted more rounds of seed stitch. So after the first disappointment wore off, I decided that the only solution was to make it longer and the only way of doing this (without starting from scratch) was to pick op stitches around the lower edge. And that I did. At least I started. My cast edges are usually very tense so it’s everything but pleasant to pick op those stitches… but I am getting there, once the cramps in my left hand have eased ;p

Sorry for the bad picture. Once I’m really done I’ll take real pictures… pretty ones. But doesn’t it look great with my white blouse? And I even like myself wearing glasses all of a sudden … magic, magic sweater.

Meanwhile I cast on these with the two still left over skeins of the blue Fortissima Socka. They are for my sister who I caught looking at the Spring forward socks longingly when she tried them on so I decided she gets a pair of socks of her own. I will have to make them a bit shorter though I think because I might run out of yarn.

And another little update: I got new shoes yesterday =D Buying shoes that I actually need is tough business. I will only buy them if I love them instantly and I am hard to please when it comes to Sneakers. I want them comfortable but feminine, without any glittery, applications or bold colours. Just simple, elegant but sporty, shoes that will keep my feet warm and dry during autumn. So for the past two years I bought the same shoes each year because I didn’t feel like browsing through a million shoe shops, trying on thousands of pairs of shoes only to buy the same brand again in the end. This year however I was fed up with my dear Dockers. I had these, by the way. They are comfortable. The problem is rather in this city’s pavements than in the shoes. In Münster we have a lot of cobblestone pavement and I forever keep tripping on it and so my shoes had holes at the front pretty soon, resulting in my getting wet feet as soon as it so much as smelled of rain. Not so nice… So you can see  I ask for a lot in shoes and I haven’t even mentioned they be reasonably priced as well.

When my sister asked if I wanted to come shopping I agreed to come, not really expecting to actually buy something. But guess what, I did find shoes that seem to fulfill almost all the requirements:

See how high the white portion up front is? Actually it’s not white but an off beige/fawn shade. Just like the laces. Cobblestones here I come, you will not ruin my shoes anymore!

They are cut pretty low and the leather isn’t that thick … but it’s leather so I hope it will keep me warm enough. The sole is pretty thick and very comfy. The only problem is that in the back the leather is still quite stiff and that I got a blister on both my feet today after walking just a short distance. I really like how they are cut though, elegantly and feminine. And I wonder if I can wear them with my brown skirt or one of the others. I have to try that ;)

I do have a very stylish lino floor, right? Especially there the patch that’s been cut out … hm … there are actually two of those. Oh well… enough rambling about shoe preferences… I am in Münster and a bit bored ;) At least I have pretty shoes… doesn’t it almost look like a bow there on top? (Not the laces themselves, the brown thingy there ;) )
